I think this is a good lesson for opponents of property tax levy to learn. In America, the bigger and more expensive is the house and land, the more Ad Valorem tax is collected to pay for schools and other municipal services. Osama’s digs are reportedly worth “a million dollars”. I don’t know how much that is in Pakistani script, but it has to be a camel load. So…
Surely Pakistan has such a burden to support. If they had an Ad Velorem tax, the taxpayer — in this case Osama Bin Laden — would have been so named on the tax rolls and on the receipt when he went in to ante up. I can’t imagine that he would have falsified a government document by using a fake name, can you? I mean, you could go to jail for that. Why would he risk that?
