I would like to be remembered as the little kid smart enough to recognize that the emperor was butt naked and ugly to boot.

Dick, when I was a senior in High School I saw a cartoon that depicted this particular fable or *fairy tale* — whichever best describes it. In the cartoon, the emperor was wearing a sandwich board that revealed his pink nakedness from a scant side view; and he was striding confidently down the street.
The emperor was none other than Ike Eisenhower, and the little kid was running along behind him carrying his Class A’s — with those big ol’ stars clearly visible.
It’s been half a century, so I forget the caption, but I bet it said, “I would like to be remembered as the little kid smart enough to recognize that the emperor was butt naked and ugly to boot.”
