Beautiful photography, and it is impossible to tell the real birds from the decoys. Sometimes, not even the birds can tell — and sometimes, not even the hunter.
In the ethic of outdoorsman/huntsmanship it is considered bad form to shoot a duck while it is sitting on the water. Hence the unflattering term, “He was a sitting duck”. However, I frequently did because it saved mine and the dog’s energy in retrieving. When so, my dad always wagged his finger at me clicked his tongue, tsk tsk tsk.
But he always ate the duck.
