Obama a Great Christian

You will never hear the words “We want to enslave you” from a left-wing American politician although most left-wing politicians will have you believe their counterparts, the right-wing politicians, want to keep slaves.

The North American Freedom Foundation (NAFF) defines slavery as “forced, unpaid service or work.” They include this caveat: “Due to its graphic content, this website is not suitable for children.”

That definition of slavery as the systematic exploitation of labor is incomplete. “Chattel slavery” refers to people who are the actual or apparent property of another person, company, or government. Let’s repeat that for emphasis: Chattel slaves are the apparent property of a government.

And we haven’t even thought about wage slavery, peonage, debt bondage, or indenture. Or the fact that slaves cannot refuse to work (“unemployment” as well as “workfare” programs). Slaves cannot leave home without explicit permission (meaning they need a passport). And so on.

Evidences of slavery predate the written history in Sumer where history itself began; man has enslaved other men on every continent and in every time that man has lived. It is so pervasive that the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 1948 states: “No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms.” Period.

There is a moral absolute there.

Many religions (including the entire Judeo/Christian/Islamist hierarchy) hold that their systems of morality derive from the commands of God.

There is an opposing moral absolute in religion.

Slavery “was established by decree of Almighty God … it is sanctioned in the Bible, in both Testaments, from Genesis to Revelation … it has existed in all ages, has been found among the people of the highest civilization, and in nations of the highest proficiency in the arts.” Jefferson Davis said in 1850. “The right of holding slaves is clearly established in the Holy Scriptures, both by precept and example.” Baptist minister Rev. R. Furman said.

Huh. The Bible endorses slavery?

Well, yes. Our Bible indeed recognizes and regulates the practice of keeping slaves (see Colossians 4:1, Deuteronomy 15:12-15, Ephesians 6:9, and First Timothy 6:1-2).

Makes slavery the Christian thing to do, innit. Slave owners would agree. Slave owners must provide everything for their slaves: housing, education, medical care, protection, and love. They do what is best for their slaves.

It’s the Christian thing to do.

Are Americans slaves?

The government already supplies most education, some housing, police protection, and guards the borders against all ingress as well as our egress.

The government Senator Obama would lead wants to take over all the medical care and love, too.

It’s the Christian thing to do.

Senator Obama has one moral absolute: he would lead all Americans on the path of righteousness for its own sake. In his world that is the path of total care, from cradle to grave. His left wing policies would take the sweat of our brows, all of it, and “give” us back our guards, our housing, our medical care, our policing, and our schooling. And, of course, his government would love us totally.

Yeah, yeah, I’ve heard about the “tax cuts.” Anything that increases the national debt ain’t a tax cut.

Owing your soul to the Company Store is slavery, no matter how you gussy it up.

Barack Obama must be a great Christian to want to further enslave us that way.

After all, it’s the Christian thing to do.

The news is all Election all the time. Even I have written about it a couple of times. Conventional wisdom holds that voters don’t usually think about the election until after the World Series. This is not a usual year. The Phillies and Tampa Bay are in the World Series. Most peeps don’t even know Tampa Bay has a baseball team so there is nothing else to talk about.

This morning, Radio Guy asked TV News Guy, “Is there anything else going on out there?” There is. There’s a school shooting in maybe Arkansas with a couple of deaths. I couldn’t even find that on Google news. And a TV news anchor, severely beaten in what police think was a random attack, has died. Oh, that was in Arkansas.

Throw da bums out. Then we’ll have something worthwhile to talk about.

  1. I am amused by my friend Hoagy who is an elderly negro from NOLA. Hoagy says he does not favor slavery, but if he had to own another human being it would not be a black person. He said, “Give me a Vietnamese, or a hard working Mexican–or mebbe one of those snooty engineers from India. But don’t sadddle me with a black guy that would slow me down and end up costing me money.”

  2. them>The government already supplies most education, some housing, police protection, and guards the borders against all ingress as well as our egress.

    “most education:”
    For the poor, very little.
    For the middle class, inadequate.
    For the rich, excellent.

    “some housing”
    For the poor, very little.
    For the middle class, foreclosure.
For the rich, as much as they want.

    “police protection”
For the poor, little protection, frequent persecution.
For the middle class, as long as they don’t rock the boat.
For the rich, excellent protection from the poor and uppity middle-class.

    “guards the borders”
Using the poor as cannon fodder for endless wars that enrich the ruling elite.
Lying to the middle-class about the necessity for these wars while assuring them they won’t have to fight them, just pay for them.
Allowing the rich to get even richer by looting the resources of the countries we invade without justification.

“The government Senator Obama would lead wants to take over all the medical care and love, too.”

Oh, would that were true. If only he planned to give us the health care that every other civilized country in the world has. Alas, he has no plans for a national healthcare, just some sop to the insurance companies that will protect their profits. The Christian thing to do is not very profitable for the almighty insurance companies.

“I’ve heard about the “tax cuts.” Anything that increases the national debt ain’t a tax cut.”

That’s why taxes should be raised on the rich, those folks who have been getting a mostly free ride. Taxes on everyone else can be left the same.

But never fear, Obama will always do what his corporate masters demand.

Which is why I voted for Ralph Nader.

  3. I love having good writers respond. It is a joy to read.

    > “most education”

25% of high school students drop out and yet per pupil school spending is the highest it has ever been. Ever.

    > “some housing”

It’s too bad we can’t give McMansions to the poor but the fact is, they wouldn’t be able to pay the property taxes the (land) rich folk do.

Foreclosure cuts across all income levels; after all it took a majority of Democratic Congress Critters to roll back the gambling laws that allowed the bucket shops that killed the housing market. It took a majority of Democratic Congress Critters to roll back the usury laws that allow poor folk to pay skyrocketing credit card interest rates. And so on.

The rich, of course, can pretty much buy whatever property they want. That’s OK with me.

    > “police protection”

It is nice to say “little protection for the poor … ” but the reality is that the most patrols are assigned to the highest crime areas. Guess where the most crime occurs?

    > Oh, would that were true. If only he planned to give us the health care that every other civilized country in the world has.

If we never get the Canadian system that Bernie Sanders thinks is perfect it will be too soon. Rationing and years of waiting for procedures is not a plan for the masses. OTOH, Canadians can buy private health care with no waiting in lines.

    Imagine that.

    > The Christian thing to do is not very profitable for the almighty insurance companies.

True. The Christian thing to do is to reduce the cost of providing health care, not pretend to fix it by reducing the “insurance premiums.”

    > Taxes should be raised on the rich, those folks who have been getting a mostly free ride. Taxes on everyone else can be left the same.

Oddly, it turns out that the 5% of folks at the top of the U.S. income scale pay 50% of U.S. personal income tax. They may not pay the 99% of their income that Deck and Senator Obama would take, but they still pay a s**tload more than thee or me. Or even than thee and me and thee and thee and thee combined.

    > Which is why I voted for Ralph Nader.

I almost did, but it turns out he’s not a Librarian, either, so I voted for Denny Crane.

  4. I would leave a comment but everyone else has already said most of the things I disagree with…and you know how I hate to be contrary.

I got a call today from someone claiming to be republican, and they told me they were disappointed that I had not voted *early* yet, as if it were a civil sin to wait until election day to vote. My question was “how do you know I have not voted yet?”

Turns out “they” run a daily check, and they know that the media use early voting numbers to generate fake poll standings. Man, nothing is secret.

They prolly know I have a Viagra prescription and are wondering why I haven’t filled it yet. Mrs Geno asks the same thing.

If Denny Crane were really a politician he would be mealey mouthed like the others. Out

  5. About 15 years ago, I discovered that one of the online merchants I do business with knew my shoe size. They sell computers.

ABC News reported yesterday that more Democrats in Florida vote early and more Republicans vote absentee. I could posit that Republicans are smarter than Democrats based on the fact that they are smart enough not to stand in line.

    > If Denny Crane were really a politician …

Yeah, but he’d still carry 17 handguns.
